A Model Perinatal Autopsy Protocol, compiled by Trevor MacPherson to supplement the Valdιs-Dapena-Huff Perinatal Autopsy Manual, has been published by the AFIP and ARP. This 59-page protocol, prepared by Dr. Trevor MacPherson of Magee-Women's Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa., in cooperation with the Study Group for Complications of Perinatal Care, provides data sheets for gross and microscopic autopsy findings, over 75 drawings of infant organs, body surfaces, cut sections of brain, and tables of normal body weights and measurements. These documents are collected in Wire-O binding to allow for easy copying of all of the charts and diagrams. These may be used 'as is' in performing and reporting perinatal autopsies or might be modified to supplement existing hospital or departmental protocols.
